11 Sep Residents work together to create a safe neighbourhood
This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the establishment of a security association by the residents of Bella Vista Waters. First called BSAFE and now BVWNW (Bella Vista Waters Neighbourhood Watch), it’s formation was brought on by the residents of a new development being very concerned about the amount of break-ins – 24 break-ins in April 2008 alone. With a buy-in of 90% of residents committing to a regular donation, the initial financial assistance of Gremmo Homes several years of financial subsidy from Mulpha Norwest, the security program was established with Highland Security engaged to do regular patrols throughout the estate. Last year there were only two break-ins in the estate. A huge thank you to all the street facilitators and presidents, the current one being Jeff Grey, for their commitment to keeping their neighbourhood safe.
