Multicultural Grandparents Group at Discovery Point

27 Aug Multicultural Grandparents Group at Discovery Point

The multicultural playgroup at Discovery Point is meeting a need mainly amongst the Chinese grandparents.  It is facilitated by Stephanie Lee, CALD Services Specialist within Rockdale Library at Bayside Council.  Stephanie facilitates the group in both Chinese and English with the aim to improve literacy and give the grandparents an opportunity to socialise.   Last year they partnered with Advance Diversity Services and took the grandparents to the Botanic Gardens.  This year they have partnered with NSW Health and include a physical activity programme for the grandchildren called Ready or Not.  The group will continue to partner with other organisations and bring important information, such as health and support services to the group, while providing other opportunities for socialising and fun.
