Celebrating Chinese New Year at The Gables

The Gables Community Program’s first event for 2019 was a Chinese New Year Celebration, a meet your neighbour event with a real difference. Everyone enjoyed the delicious Chinese food and complimentary drinks. A highlight of the evening was the Dragon Dance. The event was well attended and the stormy weather did not dampen the warm and friendly atmosphere.

Norwest Residents’ Christmas Party

A huge thank you to Mulpha for another wonderful Residents’ Christmas Party. Held on Friday night at Norwest Sales Suite, the well attended event featured live music, drinks, delicious food including a Christmas ham plus lots of taking, laughing and Christmas cheer. Attendees were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be made into hampers and distributed to those in need in the local area by Providential Homes.

The party was event managed by Connections.

Celebrating Christmas at The Gables

It was Christmas Party time at The Gables on Thursday afternoon. The weather was beautiful, the food delicious and it was great to see current and future residents getting to know each other. Thank you to Kellyville Lions Club for coming along with their BBQ. There was plenty to keep the children busy – pony rides, face painting and games. Santa also took time out of his busy schedule and was available for photos and had a little gift for the children. Congratulations to our community facilitator, Rebecca, for organising another successful event.

Norwest Family Christmas Party

Our Family Christmas Party was held on Saturday afternoon at the Norwest Sales Suite. Organised by Norwest Community Association, the event included afternoon tea, coffee for the adults, face painting, balloon twisting, circus workshop and a visit from Santa. What an enjoyable party! Big thank you to the committee members for their hard work in making the event a success.

John Palmer Public School Celebrates 10 Years

John Palmer Public School celebrated their 10th birthday yesterday – 10 years since their official opening in 2008. Connections was privileged to be a part of the journey for eight years through The Ponds Community Program, which commenced 11 years ago. Tuula Schaeffer, our Community Facilitator, made contact with the principal, Debbie Blackwell, before the school commenced with 44 students in early 2009. We were able to support the school and the P & C in many ways, including organising events together, supporting with fundraising, sponsoring and presenting annual awards and more. The school now has nearly 900 students, a great staff, with the founding teachers and administration staff still working there, and a P & C made up of wonderful, committed parents. A huge congratulations to Principal Debbie Blackwell for her courage and excellent leadership and to the staff and school families for their commitment to the children’s education.

Celebrating Spring at Norwest

Friday’s Norwest Community Association Members’ Spring Carnival and Dessert Night was a great success with about 40 people coming along to enjoy a drink, delicious finger food and desserts and meet people. Big thank you to Aveo for hosting the event while Mulpha Norwest Sales Centre is being renovated! Everyone really enjoyed the beautiful venue. Thank you also to the committee for their hard work and to Mulpha for their continuing support.

A project ends but a legacy remains

Discovery Point Community Program commenced some six years ago. It is a unique project to activate the community in, due to being an apartment building development with many stakeholders and challenges. Under the leadership of our Community Facilitators, commencing with Natasha, then Sarah and Andrea, many events and groups were organised, connections between residents and businesses made and memories created. Terresa came on board just over three years ago and under her leadership many new interest groups were established and have become sustainable, more great events were held where residents could meet each other and a legacy has been left behind for the residents to continue building on the foundation established by Connections. The project is now nearly completed and our contract has concluded as at the end of September. A big thank you to our facilitators for a job well done and to Frasers for investing in the Discovery Point community.

Birthday celebrations at The Gables

It was party time at The Gables in late September as the development celebrated it’s third birthday with an event to remember. Event attendees were treated to a range of food trucks, a variety of rides, activities, live entertainment, market stalls and more. Connections Community Facilitator Rebecca’s hard word was rewarded by a highly successful day with about 2,ooo people enjoying the event.
